Mac-Version siehe Homepage)

MPEG Streamclip is a powerful free video converter, player, editor for Mac and Windows. It can play many movie files, not only MPEGs; it can convert MPEG files between muxed/demuxed formats for authoring; it can encode movies to many formats, including iPod; it can cut, trim and join movies. MPEG Streamclip can also download videos from YouTube and Google by entering the page URL.

You can use MPEG Streamclip to open and play most movie formats including MPEG files or transport streams; edit them with Cut, Copy, Paste, and Trim; set In/Out points and convert them into muxed or demuxed files, or export them to QuickTime, AVI, DV and MPEG-4 files with more than professional quality, so you can easily import them in a DVD authoring tool, and use them with many other applications or devices.

Supported input formats: MPEG, VOB, PS, M2P, MOD, VRO, DAT, MOV, DV, AVI, MP4, TS, M2T, MMV, REC, VID, AVR, M2V, M1V, MPV, AIFF, M1A, MP2, MPA, AC3, ...

MPEG Streamclip lets you play and edit QuickTime, DV, AVI, MPEG-4, MPEG-1; MPEG-2 or VOB files or transport streams with MPEG, PCM, or AC3 audio. MPEG Streamclip can export all these formats to QuickTime, DV, AVI/DivX and MPEG-4 with high quality encoding and even uncompressed or HD video.

Video conversion is performed in the YUV color space; you can choose to scale video to any frame size using a professional 2D-FIR scaler (better than bicubic) but you can also leave it unscaled. Other optional video processing features include a powerful motion-adaptive deinterlacer, a field dominance converter, a chroma reinterlacer and an option to perform interlaced scaling instead of progressive scaling. Audio can be converted to uncompressed or to IMA, AAC, MP2 or AMR using the high-quality MP1/MP2/AC3/PCM built-in decoders of MPEG Streamclip; it is also kept in perfect sync with video using a timekeeping system.

MPEG Streamclip can save edited movies as MOV files, and (when possible) as AVI or MP4 files. Edited MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files are saved as MPEG or TS files.

MPEG Streamclip can also convert MPEG-2 transport streams into muxed MPEG-2 files, for immediate burning at full quality with most DVD authoring applications; it can also demux MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 files and transport streams with MPEG, AC3, PCM audio to M2V and AIFF (or M1A or AC3) files, for immediate burning at full quality with DVD authoring applications. A special demuxing option is available for use in QuickTime Pro: this application does not work well with M2V files, but MPEG Streamclip can write a special "unscaled" M2V file that preserves full video quality.

MPEG Streamclip can handle files and streams larger than 4 GB, split in any number of segments, or with multiple audio tracks, and can also optionally handle timecode breaks. It is compatible with MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video, MPEG layer 1/2 (MP1/MP2) audio, AC3/A52 audio, and PCM audio.

The player included in MPEG Streamclip lets you preview the files and transport streams before doing the conversion; it also lets you visually set the In and Out points for the conversion so you can convert just the part of the file you are interested in, and also cut commercials and other unwanted parts, or edit the stream and join two streams with Cut/Copy/Paste.

Zu den Anforderungen erklärt die Webseite von squared5:

This free application requires Windows XP or Windows Vista or Windows 7, but may also work in Windows 2000 and in Linux with WINE; it does not work in Windows 95/98/SE/ME. You have to download and install QuickTime, using one of the following two installers (but NOT both!):

- Apple QuickTime 7 free player (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html)

- KL QuickTime Alternative 1.81
(http://www.filehippo.com/download_quicktime_alternative/2615)

THE LATEST VERSION OF QUICKTIME ALTERNATIVE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MPEG STREAMCLIP; PLEASE DOWNLOAD QUICKTIME ALTERNATIVE 1.81 USING THE ABOVE LINK.
Additionally, if you want to make or play DivX files with MPEG Streamclip, you also have to install 3ivx (http://www.3ivx.com/), (http://www.free-codecs.com/3ivx_download.htm) and Windows Media Player 10 or higher.

Which QuickTime installer do I have to choose?

Apple QuickTime 7 is the official distribution of QuickTime. This free installer is recommended, however it is a very large file (more than 20 MB without iTunes) and it does not include MPEG-2 decoding (you have to buy the MPEG-2 playback component separately from Apple, for $19.99).

KL QuickTime Alternative is a free unofficial distribution of QuickTime. It has a quite smaller installer (less than 15 MB) and includes MPEG-2 decoding in the "Additional plugins". When you install it, be sure to enable the checkbox "Additional plugins", otherwise the MPEG-2 decoder will not be installed. You can choose either the full or the lite version.

THE LATEST VERSION OF QUICKTIME ALTERNATIVE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MPEG STREAMCLIP; PLEASE DOWNLOAD QUICKTIME ALTERNATIVE 1.81 USING THE ABOVE LINK.

I have Apple iTunes or Apple QuickTime already installed, can I use QuickTime Alternative?

You can replace Apple QuickTime with QuickTime Alternative without causing problems to iTunes. Just start the QuickTime Alternative installer, and choose to uninstall Apple QuickTime before installing QuickTime Alternative.

MPEG Streamclip shows a green screen and freezes. What should I do?

This may happen with some graphic cards. In this case, go to your control panel, open QuickTime settings, select "Advanced" and, in Video settings, disable DirectDraw acceleration. Please do not disable DirectDraw, but only DirectDraw acceleration; keep DirectDraw enabled or MPEG Streamclip will not display the player.

Kurzanleitung zur Schnittfunktion von mpeg streamclip (Vers. 1.0.1)

von P. Burkes

Installieren

1.) Download auf http://www.squared5.com/ (Windows Version)
MPEG Streamclip entpacken (sofort lauffähig ohne registry-Eintragung)

http://www.slashcam.de/news/single/Apple-verbietet-QuickTime-Alternative-Player-6369.html http://www.pctipp.ch/news/software/36441/quicktime_alternative_wird_nicht_mehr_angeboten.html

Allerdings gibt es beim Hersteller ein Nachfolgeprogramm QT-Lite, das angeblich diesselben Zwecke erfüllt und noch schneller sein soll.  K-Lite bietet aber angeblich keine Möglichkeit, QuickTime-Filme im Browser abspielen zu lassen;

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;de;290301

Take the following steps:

  1. Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility.
  2. Run this utility. It will show you a list of programs. Find QuickTime and remove it.
  3. Open Windows Explorer and go to the folder c:\windows\system32
  4. Delete the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx
  5. Delete the folder C:\program files\quicktime

Now QuickTime has been removed.

Film schneiden:

I) File - OpenFile - mpeg-Datei wählen und laden

III) Schnitt::

USING BATCH PROCESSING
If you want to use batch processing, please open the batch list using the List menu. The batch list shows a queue of tasks that will be executed when you click the Go button.
If you have many files you want to convert, you can click the "Add Files" button. You will be asked to choose a task and a destination directory. You have the option to fix timecode breaks and join selected files. For export, you will also need to enter the export settings; if the files don't have the same frame size, rate, and aspect, you will be asked for export settings several times. PIDs for the conversion will be chosen automatically for each file.
Loading all files in the batch list may take time: you can stop the process with Esc, if necessary.
But there is another way to fill the batch list. In fact, while the batch list is open (even when hidden by other windows) every conversion you choose in the File menu will be added to the batch list instead of being performed immediately (so remember to close it when you want to do an immediate conversion). This includes Save As, Export to, Convert to, Demux to; and even Download and Upload from/to supported PVR devices. The source stream used is of course, the one shown in the player.
If you add tasks this way, all editing, trimming, In/Out points, and chosen PIDs, will be saved in the batch list; thus a batched conversion gives the same results as an immediate conversion. If you then make further changes to the source stream in the player, these changes do not affect editing, trimming, In/Out points, and PIDs stored in the batch list. And you can even close the stream and open another stream in the player if you want; all conversion data will remain in the batch list until you delete the task or quit the application.
You can start batch processing with the "Go" button. The button's name will change to "Stop", if you click it again, processing of further tasks will be stopped but the currently running task will continue till completion. To stop the running task and all subsequent tasks, you can use the "Stop" button in the progress window.
The initial status of a task is "Waiting". If you click the "Hold" button you can change the status to "Held" and then back to "Waiting". When a task is "Held" it will be skipped during batch processing, but it remains in the batch list.
Once executed, the status of a task changes to "Completed"; if unsuccessful, the status reports the error message. To execute the task again, you need to change the status back to "Waiting" by using the "Repeat" button.
You can change the processing order of tasks by selecting one task and using the "Up" and "Down" buttons. You can remove a task from the list using the "Delete" button, or all tasks using the "Clear" button.
You can change the destination folder of one or more tasks with the "Redirect" button.

Videostreams aus dem Internet öffnen / herunterladen

Zur neuen Funktion (Vers. 1.1) des Internetzugriffs
OPENING A STREAM OVER THE INTERNET
Choose "Open URL" from the File menu, enter the URL address of the stream, click "Open" and, if recognized, the stream will be opened in the player.

In some cases, you can also enter the URL address of a web page, and MPEG Streamclip will try to open the video stream that's embedded in that page.

There are two options in the "Open URL" window: "Open as streamed file", and "Open as remote file"; they determine the way in which the stream will be opened. You can use "Open as streamed file" (the default) or read the following information to find out which mode to use. Note that if you select "Open as streamed file" and it fails, MPEG Streamclip will also retry with "Open as remote file" before giving up.

The "Open as streamed file" opens the stream as a sequential file with the progressive download method. The connection is controlled by QuickTime; data are cached on disk. It works with several streaming and downloading protocols, not only HTTP, but it does not allow you to seek beyond the current downloading point, and it will not work with some file types. Moreover, MPEG files opened with "Open as streamed file" will convert without sound.

The "Open as remote file" opens the stream as a remote random-access file. The connection is controlled by MPEG Streamclip; data are cached in RAM. It works only for HTTP streams (beginning with "http:") and it allows you to seek without waiting. Good for AVI files; however in this mode the player may hang for several seconds when you play the stream and your connection is too slow.

WMV and FLV streams are not supported yet in MPEG Streamclip for Windows, so you cannot use "Open URL" to play these files.

DOWNLOADING A STREAM
Choose "Open URL" from the File menu, enter the URL address of the stream, click "Download…" and, if recognized, the stream will be downloaded to disk. If the batch list is open, the task will be added to the batch list, and you can start downloading the stream later.

In some cases, you can also enter the URL address of a web page, and MPEG Streamclip will try to download the video stream that's embedded in that page. At the time of this writing, this feature works with YouTube videos and Google videos, but there is no guarantee it will work in the future. Moreover, you cannot use MPEG Streamclip to play YouTube and Google videos because they are in FLV format, and this format is not yet supported.

The "Open as streamed file" and "Open as remote file" options also apply to download. Please choose the proper option, or use the default "Open as streamed file".
